Welcome Finance

Report handed out at the meeting.
$10000 of cluster funds to be dispersed to cluster schools. Disbursement invoices issued by Dean today. Schools to invoice Hinuera for professional development costs.
Dean moved that finance report be accepted. Seconded, Bob.

General Business

  • Learning@School 2011
    • Accomodation for cluster staff is booked at Sudima Hotel, Rotorua.
    • Names for hotel reservations for staff attending L@S 2011 to Lynley once you know who is attending.
    • Schools to register and pay for all their staff attending L@S 2011.
    • Registrations are now open. $565 ex GST
  • Lead Teachers and Principals:
    • Trip to Auckland is now - Thursday November 11th
    • We will be meeting at 6.45am, returning 5pm. All staff to meet at Matamata Domain, opposite St Joseph's school.
    • Schools to be visited are Arahoe and Summerland Schools in West Auckland.
  • Reminder that Judi and Lynley are happy to run additional afterschool teacher workshops for this term as requested.

    • This document was prepared based on the National goals for the last two years. Some of the content of the draft goals stated for 2011 will be carried forward.
    • In reviewing goals and success indicators for 2011, we are mindful that school's success in achieving their goals is requires the following 3 areas to be consistently addressed:
      • 1. Infrastructure Inquiry & ICT
      • 2. A whole school approach to curriculum implementation
      • 3. Understanding the need for 'teaching as inquiry' in the role of critical reflection (page 35, NZC)
    • Cluster staffing confirmed: Facilitator: Judi Buckley, full time and Project Director, Lynley Jobe, 0.2
    • National Goals for the ICT PD contract have been reviewed and are currently in draft form. These are yet to be finalised and ratified.

        Schools will use e-learning to give effect to the New Zealand Curriculum / Te Marautanga o Aotearoa by increasing the:-


        • 1. capability of students to become successful digital citizens
        • 2. strategic and operational capability of principals to lead the integration of e-learning in their schools
        • 3. capability of teachers to integrate e-learning effectively into their practice creating an innovative and exciting learning environment for all students
        • 4. capability of family and whānau to actively participate in their child’s learning
        • 5. sharing online professional reflections with the sector to inform colleagues of the challenges and opportunities afforded by e-learning
    • Notes taken from discussion regarding each of the Draft National Goals are included in the following pdf powerpoint.
    • A draft of the goals will be posted on the wiki for comment. We will alert you by email that contribution is invited.
    • Programme tasks for 2011:
      • Already booked and planned for:
        • Term 1 Leadership Team meeting: 21st Century Classroom/Schools. Review of teacher expectations and learning/teaching rubric.
        • June 17: Cluster Conference. Jeni Wilson, booked to give keynote on Inquiry. 2 breakout sessions to follow. One session will be compulsory attendance with Jeni Wilson. 5 cluster facilitators running concurrent workshops.
      • Any other programme activities for 2011, please email suggestions to Judi or Lynley.
      • Decision to not follow through on the cluster booking a workshop with Pam Hook on SOLO. Any schools wishing to collaborate to make this happen can get information from Lynley for costings and initial contact with Pam.
